2. S.A.R.

When did you stop smiling,
it made cold winters warm
Even absent “the lantern of the poor”
I’ll go wandering lightless, stumbling
through snowdrifts to find
where your smile went,
I’d do it again
again
again

Emptiness is oceans,
The world is full of ‘em
I know how dark dark can get
The ice can give way, any moment
And we’ll be as cold cold can get
Salt will make us rust
There’s still a silver lining in here,
if we scrape enough off,
We are still shiny.

And I am still strong for you, little bird
My knees are buckled
I am strong for you, little bird
I am on the floor
I am strong for you, little bird
I cannot get up
I am still strong for you, little bird
I will not give up,
I will not give up,
I will not give up
